Bonneville is set to release their latest single, ‘Lady of the Tennessee’. The latest single from their upcoming second album, ‘Flying Machine’ offering more of the bands signature retro-soul sound.
Opening with some delectable bluesy guitar lines, the track grows into its soulful lead vocals, creating a soundscape which captures the cool essence of vintage soul through a chilled and elegant arrangement with a southern rock flare.
Reflecting on the inspiration behind the track, guitarist, songwriter, and co-producer Jeff Hayashi shares, “This song encompasses our pilgrimage to Muscle Shoals and is the embodiment of our experiences making music there thus far. We really believe Muscle Shoals to be a magical place. Personally, I cannot remember a time in my life, songwriting and creative-wise, that I have been as inspired as I have been since we made Muscle Shoals our musical home.” Lead vocalist Wes McGee echoes that sentiment, adding, “Some places just feel like home, even if it’s the first time you step foot in them. Muscle Shoals is that for us.”
The essence of homecoming and freedom is woven into the song’s very structure. Hayashi explains, “More than anything, I wanted the song to give listeners a feeling of freedom and homecoming. I hope listeners feel good when they hear it, and perhaps it will evoke some curiosity about who the Lady of the Tennessee is.”
The full production team on ‘Lady of the Tennessee’ includes Jeff Hayashi (songwriter, guitar, co-producer), Wes McGee (songwriter, lead vocals), Chris Owens (bass), Doug Orr (keys), Anthony Ingram (drums), Starita (producer, recording engineer), Wes Sheffield (recording engineer, mix engineer, mastering engineer). The track is out now via Starita Records, keep an eye out for more about the upcoming album.
