Brighton’s alt-rockers Bones Ate Arfa are back with the new video for Akimbo People, the title track from the bands just released debut EP.
Led by the charismatic frontman Arfa—whose impressive collaborations include Isaac Holman of Soft Play and Kate Nash—Bones Ate Arfa has rapidly established themselves as a force in the alt-rock scene. Their electrifying sound and vibrant live performances have garnered attention from BBC Radio 6 Music, Radio X. The band are currently also on a UK tour.
The six-track EP, Akimbo People, is a sonic journey through the unpredictable nature of relationships. It’s a rollercoaster of heavy distortion, infectious melodies, and a palpable sense of urgency that grips you from the first riff to the last. The band describes the EP as a reflection on the chaotic beauty of human connections, and this theme resonates throughout every track.
Arfa’s vocals, urgent and deceptively catchy, navigate through layers of thick distortion, enhanced by creative production choices like boxy vocal effects, glitching electronics, and a standout feature from rapper Dread FM. These elements give the band’s sound a distinctive flavor, blending raw power with innovative flair. Whether delivering anthemic choruses or unexpected tempo shifts, the EP showcases Bones Ate Arfa’s mastery of balancing intensity with meticulous craftsmanship.
The accompanying video for the lead single ‘Akimbo People’ adds a quirky, visual twist to their sound. Featuring a dark, comic book-esque storyline, the video captures the intensity and energy of the track, offering a perfect visual counterpart to the songs explosive intensity.
