News: Arkayla Return Share Anticipated New 4 Track EP ‘Ella Malone’

Rising quartet Arkayla released the hotly anticipated new 4 track EP ‘Ella Malone’. Their journey from indie newcomers to a sellout touring band has been meteoric, driven by their effortlessly infectious songwriting which carries a warming nostalgic 60s edge blended with a current indie flare.

For Arkayla and their followers, the EPs title track Ella Malone isn’t just another single; it’s a piece of their history as a track which has been a staple of the bands live shows. “Anyone who has been a long-time follower of our band knows just how long this song has been around,” says Fin, the band’s lead guitarist. “We first wrote it back in 2018 before we even had a clear vision for what we would be as a group. It’s been a fan favourite at all our live shows. In fact, I don’t think we’ve ever played a gig without it. To finally be able to say it’s out now after all these years is just mad. We hope you love it as much as we do.”

Embracing a waltzing rhythm and a beach-indie infused, laid-back vibe, the ‘Ella Malone’ captures a buoyant beach-indie feel through it’s jangly strummed guitars, whimsical vocal delivery and bed of rich Beach Boys-come-Beatles-esque vocal harmonies. Bringing light and jiving melodies over heartfelt lyricism, the track captures a sense of vibrancy and alternative accessibility through descending guitar chords, shimmering arpeggios, and a swaying groove.

Elsewhere across the four tracks, the band showcase the familiar jiving 60s indie-rock tones which have seen them acclaimed to date, landing a No. 2 spot on the iTunes Alternative Charts and accolades from Radio X and BBC Radio 6. From High energy guitar breaks to vintage-pop undertones, the EP is a striking introduction to the band and surely sets them on their way to becoming a breakout band.
