Andrew Pattie, a versatile multi-instrumentalist and seasoned musician, has just released his latest single, ‘You Are’, the title track from his radiant debut album ‘REPAIR’.
This indie, synth-pop track stands out with its upbeat and dreamy soundscape, reflecting Andrew’s eclectic influences from TOPS’s ‘Picture You Staring’ to West African guitar styles. The song, mastered by Hifi Sean Dickson of Soup Dragons, features a synth bass that intensifies the dance vibe, creating a fresh and engaging listening experience.
The lyrics of ‘You Are’ explore themes of self-acceptance and the conflict between personal identity and societal expectations. Andrew explains: “‘You Are’ deals with acceptance. Acceptance of yourself. A dialogue fighting with who we feel we should be against how our society and surroundings expect us to act. To have continued to be a musician through the last 11 years has been a struggle for me. Not only financially but with my mental health. Much of REPAIR deals with coming to terms with a lifelong struggle with depression and anxiety. I look at these musical creations as a way to repair myself. To find ways of communicating difficult and abstract feelings in music, lyrics, and mood. My wife, Alexis added her voice to this furthering the dialogue concept.”
Andrew’s commitment to his craft and his ability to channel personal challenges into his music make ‘You Are’ a testament to his resilience and artistic vision. This latest release is a significant addition to his debut album, ‘REPAIR’, and showcases his dedication to creating music that resonates on a deeply emotional level with listeners.
