Over the last few years, Alter Boy, the pop noir sensation from Perth, has been captivating audiences with their enigmatic live performances. Their pulsating beats and introspective lyrics carve out a niche that sets them apart, cementing their status as the band everyone should have on their radar.
The band have revealed that their debut album ‘I Don’t Live Here Anymore’ is set to be released on Friday September 6. Their latest dark pop track ‘Don’t Hurt Me (I Used To Be A Baby)’ is the first taste of what to expect from the album, laden with heavy electronic beats and industrial sounds set under lead singer Molly Priest’s lingering vocals.
“The song seeks nothing but to sit for a moment in profound despair with the recognition of what it means to be alive in the present era. It deals with themes of fear and helplessness, shame and guilt, and I imagine the outro is being played by a string quartet on a sinking ship. The musicians have accepted that the ship will go under, but rather than fuss and fight, they continue to play.”
