Displaying some brilliant infectious, emotion driven songwriting, tight guitar work and some vibrant pop melodies, the new 4 track EP from Alex Spencer ‘There’s Gotta Be More’ offers some excellent musicality highlighted by it’s pinpoint, punchy production.
At just seventeen years old, Alex Spencer has made the remarkable journey from busking on the streets of Manchester to becoming one of the most exciting indie talents in the UK, Spencer has earned high praise from the likes of BBC 6 Music, XS Manchester, and John Kennedy on Radio X. With the new EP released via Modern Sky UK, Alex continues to showcase the indie-pop sensibilities which have seen him become one to watch.
The EP kicks off with ‘Love And Let Go’, an energetic track infused with pop-melodies, a vibrant rock energy as the lyricism treads through teenage nostalgia. ‘Nightmares’ brings shuffling beats, and etherial guitars under the glittering melodies glide above the musical backdrop before singing the floating middle-eight in Spanish.
The title track ‘There’s Gotta Be More’ showcases Alex’s strongest songwriting traits, making music whihc holds a punchy alt-rock edge led by catchy melodies and vibrant pop songcraft. Some brilliant plucky guitar licks and an anthemic chorus highlight exactly what Alex is capable of.
Speaking about the EP, Alex explains: “My latest release contrasts childhood innocence with adult realities. Based on personal experiences, the raw and introspective writing evokes nostalgia and reflection. The project aims to connect deeply with listeners, highlighting life’s complexities and the search for meaning.”
