News: Addley Blends Indie & Synth-Pop On ‘Blue And Gold’

Liverpool’s emerging solo artist Addley returns with the radiant new single ‘Blue and Gold’, a striking and infectious preview of his debut EP We Can Talk For Hours (due October 11th).

Produced by Ben Harper (who’s worked with The Mysterines and The Sherlocks), ‘Blue and Gold’ blends pulsating guitar riffs, shimmering synths, and driving drums, creating a soundscape that feels both expansive and intimate. The song radiates a breezy pop feel, yet its indie edge and heartfelt vocals give it a weighty emotional undertone.

Thematically, the track perfectly encapsulates the magnetic allure of a forbidden romance, a theme that Addley explores with both depth and vulnerability. Addley’s lyrical honesty stands out as he reflects on the tension of desire and regret, particularly in the context of his experiences as a gay man navigating the highs and lows of nightlife. Addley explains: “’Blue and Gold’ is a song about being unable to resist a person you should stay away from. It’s about my relationships as a gay man on dancefloors and beyond, having fun and regretting it after… until doing it all again.”

Addley’s ability to balance catchy, radio-ready melodies with introspective songwriting is impressive. There’s a palpable sense of yearning and escapism that runs through the track carried through the tracks energy, while the melancholic vocal delivery adds a depth to the tracks feel.

Talking about the upcoming EP, Addley adds: “The new EP is a journey through escapism, desire, and loneliness. The songs are confessional, sometimes obvious, sometimes not, but always cathartic. They reflect how nightlife and dance floors have been a release for me—sometimes in an unhealthy way.”
