Yip Deceiver revel in some funky synth-pop with their new single Red Line.
The Georgia-based “two man boy band” have a new EP titled YPD coming out on 6 November (via New West Records) and this is the lead single, which “mutates Davey and Dobby from an indie-dance duo into rock ‘n’ roll aliens. Embracing their fetish for expressive synth texture while re-introducing live ingredients for breathing room.”
This seems to roughly translate to catchy 80’s infused electro-pop – it’s a bit of Duran Duran’s synth-funk on Big Thing mixed with the indietronica of Friendly Fires debut album.
The lyrics say “it’s your party now”. I’m not sure this track is a dance floor filler, but it would definitely get a party off to a good start and they will be doing just that when they support Electric Six on their UK and Europe tour:
