Seems that London quartet Vyk Non are on a mission to confuse us. Starting with their name that, in the spirit of Aphex Twin, consists of basically meaningless words that mean nothing, they follow it up by making jerky, noisey art pop/punk, with shades of The Pixies and Fugazi that’s just as difficult to describe/pigeonhole.
Gloriously messy right from the off, the world of Vyk Non is one inhabited by razor sharp swathes of guitars, jerky accompaniments and rumbling bass. Vocalist Charles Potashner has this welcoming baritone about him, and Distant Stars – the bands new single, is essentially a jaunty, almost folky melody, dragged through a nightmarish (and totally weird) slasher movie. Yeah, its that good.
