They’ve just completed their biggest headline tour to date, with sell out shows throughout the UK, and going down a storm in the good ole US of A. If you were lucky enough to have caught one of the gigs, you’ll be abruptly aware of how pleasurably raucous The Wytches live set can be. Dirty great grungy guitars, exquisitely strained vocals, primal drum beats and bodies flying everywhere. (- see our review from Leeds).
But there is a tamer side to The Wytches. Latest single ‘Weights & Ties’, from debut album ‘Annabel Dream Reader’, slows the pace down. You still get the doomy surf sound, but for this track it’s steadier, almost stretched out. It’s definitely a love song, but, as with many of Kristian’s lyrics, it’s both personal and poetic . . .
Weights And Ties will be released through Heavenly Recordings on Monday 29th December. The track, co-produced by Kristian Bell and Bill Ryder-Jones (The Coral) at Toe Rag Studios, is taken from the band’s debut album ‘Annabel Dream Reader’ which you can order HERE.
The Wytches are currently playing live in France as support to The Amazing Snakeheads, they return to the UK stage on January 27th where they play the Village Underground, London.
The Wytches are: Kristian Bell (vocals / guitar / organ), Dan Rumsey (bass) and Gianni Honey (drums).
