San Cisco are possibly the most exciting thing to come out Australia in years, balancing pure indie pop with some cooler electro sensibilities and a sense of fun, sunshine and joy which is often offset with some darkly delicious lyrics.
They debut their brand new single “SloMo” and it’s an instantly singable slice of goodness which is both a rattling indie track and also brings to mind some fantastic retro references like Nena’s “99 Red Balloons” and the Scissor Sisters’ “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin'”. Not many acts could release a full on dance stomper with a title suggesting the opposite and telling a slightly more twisted tale than the straightforward euphoric chorus suggests.
The band are currently prepping their third studio album for release early in 2017, but for now “SloMo” is a clear statement that their offbeat brand of mischievous lyricism (see “Awkward”) and keen sense of how to craft a fun, infectious anthem (see “Run”) are going to bring even more delights to their fanbase and a much wider audience next year.
