Out right now is Seven Sisters, the new single from London three piece Real Lies. It marks the middle of a busy period for the trio – Tom Watson, Kev Kharas and Pat King, who have been finishing off their debut album and hosting semi-legal warehouse shows in Highbury, before setting off on a European and UK tour.
Seven Sisters, which Annie Mac premiered last week as her Hottest Record, is the new face of electronic pop. Underpinned by these repeated chords on the synths, and this disco house percussion, it harks back to early Madonna in its outlook, layers of synths added as it continues, some sweeping over the top, some jutting in between the beats as the vocal too alternates, between the sung chorus’ (and damn catchy they are too) and the spoken verses.

“There’s a more important, underlying commonality Real Lies get at—they are unabashed romantics, respectful of the potential listener’s fathomless longing, incapacitating nostalgia and the belief that these feelings and the fleeting, intense relationships responsible for them are worthy of being presented on a grand scale” ~ Pitchfork
