And so we propel towards the end of the Summer. Here in the north of England, it’s especially important to try and grab any chance we can to sit in the Sun, as we don’t get that many of them. It’s those rare times that we can relax and let the mind wander, usually (for me anyway) back to those days as a youth, playing in the fields, the long hot, happy holidays.
Seems thats the sort of thing Australian Indie band MT Warning were aiming for. The band formed out of film-maker Taylor Steele seeing the main musical protagonist of the project Mikey Bee play live. Getting together, they work with Bee providing music to both of their shared dreams, thoughts and conversations, writing their music as little soundtracks to stories.
New track Youth Bird swoops and glistens through this late summer haze, jam-packed with killer hooks and melodies, with this sort of The Clash guitar playing in the track adding the sour to the sweetness of the rest of the song. The band describe the song as ‘ the lament but also the regained freedom of realizing the coveted, but short-lived prize of youth.’
Actually, I don’t mind the forthcoming onset of Autumn. I’ve got Youth Bird by MT Warning to remind me of today.
Youth Bird is being self-released by the band on October 15th
