Out now on the Ninja Tune label, premium purveyors of quality beats, comes a trio of reworks of Render Me, taken from Mr Scruff’s latest long player Friendly Bacteria, itself only recently released.
It features funky Detroit producer Dez Andrés (Slum Village / Mahogani Music / La Vida); Royalty & AD Bourke; and Mr. Scruff himself. The appearance of Andrés delighted Scruff, aka Andy Carthy, who said “I am a massive fan of Andrés, so having him do a remix for me is a bit of a dream come true. He did a great twist on his style, a bit more loose & improvised, but still with the soulful bumping simplicity that I love about him.” Which, in actual fact is about all the review you need for it.
On the flip, Royalty team up with Italian cosmic funk freak AD Bourke for a warm and summery disco infused take on the track, before Scruff takes his own track, stripping it back, melting it down and, well, rendering it (you see what I did there, right?) fit for dancefloors only.
