She’s one of our heroes, is Kate Tempest. Rapper, poet, playwright, novelist – she’s working to get some kind of monopoly on words, so it seems. Following on from her recently-released debut novel, The Bricks That Built The Houses, she’s revealed the companion album to the book, titled let them eat chaos. Released on October 7th via Fiction Records, it’s a follow up to 2014’s Mercury Prize-nominated Everybody Down, Let Them Eat Chaos.
From it, Kate has also revealed a track, Don’t Fall In. Built on this slightly eerie backing, full of strangled descending pitches and weird oscillating organ, she lays down her lyrics over the suffocating beats, creating something that’s dark, ambitious and clever. Heroine status continues unabated.
Kate will also be heading out on a UK headline tour throughout December, including a date at London’s Roundhouse. If you would be keen to head down to a show, let me know and we’ll look to sort.
