Ahead of the release of her fourth album, Have you in My Wilderness, Los Angeles based singer songwriter Julia Holter has shown a second glimpse of the new record in the shape of a song, Sea Calls Me Home.
The track, which Holter describes as being “about moving away from things that trap you, the scary wonder in discovering freedom”, begins with this almost borouque pop feel, layers of electronic and acoustic instruments adorning Holters vocal rather than accompanying it, but all the time allowing it to be the focal point. Never taking the straight course, it weaves this way and that throughout, sugared along the way by both the textures and the delicious vocal harmonies. It’s both searching and beautiful.
Have You In My Wilderness drops via Domino Records on September 25th.
