Out right now is Wrecks, the new single from Berlin based trio The History of Colour TV, taken from their third album Something Like Eternity.
Recorded in France with Peter Deimel (The Wedding Present, Shellac, The Ex) at the legendary Black Box Recording Studio, Wreck is a departure for the band – as they’ve adopted a much more primal, minimal style. Despite there only being guitar, vocals and drums for most of the track, there’s something about the arpeggiated guitar work and the bleakness of the vocal that brings to mind Radiohead. As it builds to its loudest point, there’s desperation and anxiety in the vocal line, before – largely instrumentally, it gradually falls apart to close.
