To say that Bedfordshire’s Healyum are led by 15 year old lead vocalist and songwriter Jeaná Healy, joined by sister Katie and brother Jed and friends Nathanael Degning and Pip Benjamin, their music is rather sophisticated and beauty. Their debut single, the Kristofer Harris (Laura Marling, Bears Den, Clock Opera) produced Fools Eyes is out on December 11th, and has already picked up plays on Radio X and BBC introducing, along with Huw Stephens who gave it his first national play.
Ethereal and soaked in echo, Fools Eyes moves with this sedate beauty, fuelled by these synth lines and shrouded in these vocal harmonies. As it continues so it ebbs and flows, as layers of electronics build and drop away. There’s nothing of the youth about the songwriting, only perhaps about the innocence of it.
