For an unsigned quartet hailing from Bridgend, South Wales, Fire Fences have some pretty impressive names behind the recording of their new song, Eastern Avenue. Recorded in Los Angeles at 4th Street Recording, it was produced by Sejo Navajas, engineered by Chase McElhaney and mixed by Jose Alcanter (Interscope Records) before being mastered by Brian Gardner (Foo Fighters, David Bowie, John Mayer).
Turns out they won the the recording session as a prize for ‘best single in 2015’ from Indi.com. Judging by the result, they might just be on to something. Eastern Avenue. It blasts into life with big riffs, catchy melodies and a huge sounding accomapiment. But there’s something more, hypnotic guitar lines, shuffling drums and an ebb and flow about the whole thing that makes it all a little unexpected, Fire Fences make sure they are the stars of Eastern Avenue, rather than the illustrious names that worked on it.
