Those Eliza and the Bear people have been busy. After releasing a handful of delightful synth pop tracks, the band have been on tour most recently with Twin Atlantic, having occupied the same slot with Imagine Dragons and Paramore. They’ve recently unveiled their latest video for ‘Make it on my Own’, from the forthcoming EP of the same name, which drops on June 21st through Capitol Records. Now they’ve released another track, Love don’t play Fair, recorded during recent album sessions at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, with producer Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, Of Monsters and Men, James Bay).
Opening with these winding chords, it quickly bubblies into this funk filled number, with nods to disco (check the high hat work), handclaps included, and this sense of ambition that their work with King might just have dragged out of them. It skates over the ripples of percussion and buzzing bassline, delivering a tasty level of pure pop.
