Not only are Norway’s Death By Unga Bunga blessed with a brilliant name, but – on the evidence of Fight!, taken from their new EP of the same name, they back it up with equally brilliant garage rock. It’s due out on September 9th via Jansen in conjunction with the re-release of their debut album, Juvenile Jungle.
Apparently a tribute to the fight for quality music, Fight has Stones/Angus Young like riffs that splatter all over the driving rhythms. Over the top, as it stutters away, comes the sort of singalong chorus that many a band (none of which have a name to match Death By Unga Bunga) would kill for. It’s impossible not to like, and just when you think things couldn’t be improved on, it grinds to a halt before finding its feet with a frankly fantastic guitar solo.
