“Who needs the future when the past tastes so good?” is something you might hear Brandon Welchez shout over to his band mate, Charles Rowell, as they hurtle down a pot-holed freeway in a rusty Cadillac, its beige mammalian body adorned with mysterious stains.
Every inch the speed-addled aquatic reptiles that their hallucinatory music suggests, Crocodiles manage to frighten and fascinate in equal measure. Not content with sleeping still, the prolific San Diego duo have recently announced a brand new record. Produced by Martin Thulin, Boys was partly inspired by the band’s temporary tropical relocation to Mexico City and was specifically created to entertain “back-alley poets, thieves, space cadets and alien babes”. It will be their fifth album in six years. If the lead song, Crybaby Demon, is anything to go by, one can expect plenty Latin bass grooves bellowing the merciless fires inside the boys’ bespoke infernal psychedelic disco. You can watch the video for it below.
Boys is scheduled for release on 12 May via Zoo Music.
