Liverpool four piece Clean Cut Kid, aka Mike Halls, Evelyn Halls, Saul Godman and Ross Higginson, make music best described, at least to Halls, as “Soulful pop ballads, washed in Mersey water”. After spending so much time in the studio that Saul ended up living in it (Mike and Evelyn being on the same road) they honed their skills and are ready to unleash their debut single Vitamin C onto the world, out later this month through the bands own Babe Magnet Records/Polydor.
Vitamin C opens with this sort of angular, stuttering guitar line, that lays the rather glorious foundations to the track. It soons begins to flower, joined by this thudding bassline till it arrives, full of melody, beautiful harmonies and head nodding vibes – placing itself somewhere between Haim and Vampire Weekend, with a handful of filthy guitars thrown in for good measure.
Frankly, its fantastic. The Clean Cut Kid train is one your not going to want to miss.
