It’s turning into a busy year for Williamsburg Brooklyn’s Au Revoir Simone. Thy recently announced am European tour, taking place in February, and passing through the UK for some dates, including anNME awards show at London’s The Garage.
The band, Erika Forster, Annie Hart and Heather D’Angelo, have always been a band close to our hearts here on Backseat Mafia, but especially since the release of their fourth album, Move in Spectrums, which dropped last Autumn and showed the band were still capable of producing interesting, relevant and melodic indie synth pop.
Coming out on February 24th is the albu,s opening track, More Than, through the ever brilliant Moshi Moshi records, and was produced by the band in conjunction with Jorge Elbrecht.
The track opens with this slightly grating synth line, but the almost whispered vocal that takes over gives ample sweet against the sour, and a it approaches the chorus it lifts, almost into the clouds, with this dreaminess about it. The chorus itself in its first appearance clean, but then draped in this almost psych like echo, is a beautiful statement from the band.
Tell me what you want, is the repeated line in the chorus. More, Au Revoir Simone is the answer.
