Los Angeles alt-rock solo artist Moses Mikheyev shares his excellent new single ‘Hollywood Hills’, a track which is at once haunting and yet also musically vibrant.
Awash with warm reverb coated guitars and atmospheric vocals, the track manages to reflect a vintage feel whilst still retaining a striking freshness. Making extensive use of tape machines, analogue equipment and vintage gear, Mikheyev’s approach to recording is organic capturing an essence of 70s rock which is contrasted by the inclusion of subtle synths and a throbbing electronic bass which lift the track’s ear-worm chorus and give the track an edge.
A track built around a story of Lucifer taking someone’s soul in exchange for providing gold, diamonds, money and fame, the haunting nature of ‘Hollywood Hills’ delivery is fitting for the tracks dark undertones.
Speaking on the single Moses Explains: “We really just wanted to create a haunting song around the myth and magic of Hollywood. Something sensual, sad, and nostalgic. A tribute to all the dead ghosts who lived and tried.”
Taken from the upcoming debut album I Only Have A Hundred Years To Love You which is planned for release in 2023, ‘Hollywood Hills’ sees Moses Mikheyev present himself as a an exciting talent to keep your eye on.
