Pack your bags! Weezer is hitting the road for their Indie Rock Road Trip summer tour, joined by special guests Spoon and White Reaper. This time, they paid a visit to White River Amphitheater in Auburn, WA, USA. Come along for the ride!
Weezer started off the show with “My Name Is Jonas,” in which the crowd was immediately on fire, chanting and in utter awe. During the performance, Weezer expressed gratitude for their fans’ acceptance of their uniqueness. Cuomo stated, “We get to be as weird as we want and you still love us, we appreciate that.” Throughout the night, fans recorded the show as they enjoyed newer songs that the band played, not to mention the classics such as “Say It Ain’t So,” and “Island In the Sun”, among many others.
Weezer undoubtedly has one of the most unique stage designs that truly lives up to the name of the tour. Towards the back of the stage, you see a giant dashboard and steering wheel with the projection screen taking the shape of a car’s windshield playing animated road footage – giving the illusion that we’re driving. Frontman Rivers Cuomo performs a portion of the set atop the dashboard while Patrick Wilson sits adjacent to the singer behind the drum kit, directly above the car’s radio. Guitarist Brian Bell and bassist Scott Shriner remain on the stage floor for the entirety of the set. It is very clear to see that a lot of time and effort went into Weezer’s stage design.
