After playing London shows at Omeara and Electric Brixton last year, The Backseat Lovers were back, and this time were playing a sold out O2 Kentish Town Forum. Support for the night came from London-based Junodream, who certainly got the crowd warmed up for the main event. They mentioned this was a homecoming set, having only lived round the corner when they first started as a band. They clearly gained a few fans by the end of the set, as many in the crowd were shouting “Juno, Juno. Juno” as they finished their final song and left the stage. This is definitely a band to keep an eye out for.
It was then time for highly anticipated The Backseat Lovers. Although this was part of the ‘Waiting to Spill’ tour, celebrating the release of their second album in October last year, the setlist was a mixture of both their debut and most recent album. To the crowd, it didn’t really matter which song they played, each was met with a cheer from the first note, and was sung back with as much vigour as the last. Even the guitar riffs were sung back throughout the entire set. As they worked their way through the 13 song set, there was no let up in energy from the band or the crowd. They were certainly putting on a memorable show. The band finished the show, and their Europe tour, with a two song encore, starting with ’Snowbank Blues’ before finishing with ’Sinking Ship’.
Although the show was over, the energy spilled out with the crowd outside the venue, with most of them still talking about the amazing show they had just witnessed. From what we have seen from The Backseat Lovers in 2022, I am sure it won’t be long before they are back in the UK performing live again.
