Sharon Van Etten was always very close to her band, but one day after rehearsal in February 2022, she decided to have a jam session, which changed everything for her and took her on a new creative journey. Having only ever written music by herself in a very intimate and therapeutic way, partly as a means of processing her trauma, the session was so cathartic, that she began writing and collaborating with her band members in a very different way, culminating with the recording of her new album at The Church Studios in Hackney, London. A different vibe completely to the Californian landscape, where she lives.
Last autumn she then put on a surprise show at the iconic and very intimate 100 Club in London, to showcase the new music and introduce The Attachment Theory, which was a very emotional and powerfully raw performance.
Scale that up to the Royal Albert Hall and we had the most incredible show, full of passion and showing a new, close interactive relationship with her band.
She also performed a spine-tingling tribute to the late David Lynch singing a version of ‘Tarifa’ from the Twin Peaks series.
Support was from Nabihah Iqbal and her band -musician, producer, DJ from London.
