Manchester’s Academy 2 was flooded with energy on Saturday night when the Australian psych-rock band Pond took to the stage for the last night of their UK and European Tour.

The band played a good mix of tracks, going back to their early releases with a medley of Moth Wings, Eye Pattern Blindness and Giant Tortoise, which were mixed seamlessly with songs from their newer releases, including songs their latest album 9 and fan-favourites Paint Me Silver and Sweep Me Off My Feet.

Pond were effortlessly tight on stage, and it was so clear that they are completely in-tune with each other while they perform, not missing a beat while loving every second of the show. This enthusiasm radiated through the room and bounced between the band and crowd, who were echoing back every lyric and moving along with every rhythm. The gig wasn’t sold out but the energy in the room would have said otherwise, every person watching was a dedicated Pond fan, which only made the atmosphere multiply in size.
