Live Review + Photo Gallery: You Am I at The Odeon Theatre, nipaluna/Hobart 12.04.2025

30 years on from the release of their sophomore album, Hi-Fi Way, You Am I rolled into Hobart on their Hi-Fi Daily Double Down Tour to deliver a near religious experience to a 400 strong crowd of enthusiastic fans at the Odeon Theatre on Saturday evening. The band played two sets, during which time they played the entirety of both Hi-Fi Way and third album Hourly, Daily along with a host of other great hits from their extensive catalogue.

The crowd sang along on top note for nearly every song, erupting when the band moved into their rockier numbers.

Frontman, Tim Rogers is a charismatic performer who captivates his audiences with his old-school rock and roll persona, channelling the likes of rock royalty Pete Townsend and Mick Jagger into the one bundle. He is more than ably supported by his band of merry men – the amazing Davey Lane on guitar, Andy Kent on bass, Rusty Hopkinson on drums and James Fleming on keyboard.

It is great to see bands such as You Am I extending their playing lives beyond just that usual 5 to 10 year mark. This is borne out in the turnout of fans who have been on that journey during, and since the band kicked off in 1989 before exploding onto the wider national scene with their 1992 Big Day Out appearance and subsequent recorded output.
