Live Review: Pastiche / T A D H G – Upstairs at Whelans, Dublin 11.11.2021, plus galleries

In the intimate upstairs at Whelans, two future pop stars peddled their significant wares to a enthusiastic sold out crowd. Opening up was singer-songwriter T A D H G, who played a half hour set on the piano, sounding and performing a bit like Elton John, as if there were ever a better compliment.

Then is was 22-year-old Dubliner Pastiche, blasting on to the stage with her power pop and opening with her first ever single to the crowds delight. From there, she didn’t let go of the proverbial throat (or should that be hearts) and it was straight into her second single. If that wasn’t enough, she not break from the single hits with her third release, while during the set we were treated to a cover of Lady Gaga – Yoü And I – Pastiche joking ‘if you dont know the song please leave now!’

From there, it was into her latest single Bad Loser – only out just last week and has already managed to rack up just slightly below 10,000 listens, before Pastiche introduced her next song ‘Growing Pain’ as ‘a song about a family member’. An emotional rollercoaster, Pastiche held back the tears (just about), before the night was then finished of with 2 of her bangers, which left the crowd roaring for more.
