Live Review – Jamie Webster/ The K’s – o2 Institute Birmingham – 24/11/24

Touring in support of his latest album release ’10 For The People’ Jamie Webster brings the show to a sold out o2 Institute in Birmingham with one of the UK’s best up and coming bands in support in the form of The K’s

Taking time out from their own sell out nationwide tour, The K’s take to the stage and kick off their with ‘Icarus’ the opening track from their debut album ‘I Wonder If The World Knows?’

A short but sweet 9 song set from the Newcastle lads, which including an impromptu Guinness downing set break from bassist Dexter, and a tease of new material with the announcement of their second album coming in 2025.

After such a rise in prominence over the past few years it won’t be long before The K’s are back in Birmingham selling out venues like this one and larger, the future is very bright for these lads.

A quick break and the stage is cleared for Jamie Webster and his band. The crowd are fired up from the sing-a-long anthems during the break from the likes of Oasis and Gerry Cinnamon, before ‘Praise You’ by Fat Boy rings out as Jamie appears on stage with his familiar long hair and crowd pumping.

Starting his set with ‘Voice of the Voiceless’ from the latest album the crowd are already off their feet and on shoulders.

Each track from the show separated from loud crowd chants regarding the Tory party and what they would like to do to them, which Jamie jokingly replies that they have done that themselves.

Football chants break out and mass singalongs ensue as Jamie goes through his strong 18 song set, which was a nice mix of old and new tracks from his 3 albums. It’s hard to believe that the debut album only came out in 2020, it feels like Jamie has been a mainstay of the indie scene for a lot longer!

Feel good song from last album ‘Lovers in the supermarket’ brings a lovely warm reaction from the Birmingham crowd but the biggest tracks were saved till last with mega hits ‘This Place’ and ‘Weekend in Paradise’ bringing the show to an epic closure.
