Live Review: Hella Mega Tour  Green Day / Fall Out Boy / Weezer – Marlay Park, Dublin 27.06.2-22

The monster that is Hella Mega Tour descended on the sleepy suburb of Rathfarnham just outside Dublin city centre. Thousand of music fans attended to see four acts, those being Amyl and the Sniffers / Weezer / Fall Out Boy and Green Day.
It had originally been announced on September 10, 2019 and included dates from March to August 2020 so it had been a long time coming and was hugely welcomed by all in attendance as each act got a loud welcome and fantastic reaction through out their sets.
Unfortunately I didn’t get coverage of Amyl and the Sniffers in photo, they were great with Amyl being her ever so energetic self and at one point asking the crowd to wish her gran back home a get well soon as she’s not well at the minute.
After Amyl it was the turn of Los Angeles boys Weezer, with Dave Eltich filling in on drums in place of Patrick Wilson, who had brought the over sized drum kit stage set with them.

It was then a whole stage set breakdown and a new one put it place for the  Chicago boys Fall Out Boy and before they hit the stage there was a video intro and then drummer Andy Hurlay walked out and took up his position as the rest of the band followed. through out the first half of the first song Pete Wentz had a flame thrower attached to his bass and at times would fire it off to accompany large flames shooting upwards from the stage. these stage flames were used a number of time throughout their set as were pyrotechnics and finishing out their set with some confetti canons (something Weezer had also done)

Another stage breakdown and this time the stage is left simple for the East Bay boys Green Day, who had not one but three intros play before hitting the stage and during the second of those a large pink rabbit appeared and fell/bounced/ran around the stage before being dragged off ( this was part of the show)
The guys were what was to be expected straight up punk rock and two everyone’s delight (mine included) opened with American Idiot. There wasn’t any flames only a few pyrotechnics . The night finished out with an impressive fireworks display. ooh before I forget at two points fans were brought up on stage. One time to sing part of Know Your Enemy and the second time to play guitar during Knowledge (Cover)
