Oklahoma Indy rock band Wilderado brought their blend of country and rock sound to Portland’s Revolution Hall this past Wednesday. They are currently touring for support of the bands sophomore effort Talker. Supporting Wilderado on tour is Ethan Tasch and Portland’s own The Takes.
The auditorium was full of people waiting to take in some excellent rock music mid-week. The audience is fully immersed into music through out Wilderado set, clapping along, dancing on the floor of the theater. The audience in the balcony standing and swaying along with the bands Americana sound. The evening feels like a celebration of Americana’s past and indie rock’s future.
Wilderado’s front man Max Rainer quickly made a connection with the audience early on waiving to those up in the balcony of the old Washington High School theater. Rainer tells the crowd how thankful him and the band are for being at a place that they could write new music for a second album and on top of that having a place to perform for their fans. This lead into the band performing the title track from the new album Talker. The songs tells a story of a person writing down things they want to say to the other person in the song only to throw them away thinking they have no idea what to say, they rather sit there with them in the moment. The audience hung on Rainer’s ever word all night, between each song telling stories of his family and the feeling his puts into his lyrics.
Wilderado is on tour in the south west U.S through the end of October, you can find a full list of upcoming dates on the bands website. The bands second album Talker is now available to stream on all major streaming platforms.
