Health is an influential metal and industrial band renowned for their innovative sound and intense live performances. Formed in Los Angeles, the band consists of Benjamin Jared Miller on drums, John Famiglietti on bass and synthesizers, and Jake Duzsik on vocals and guitar. Their music blends heavy, distorted guitars with pulsating electronic beats, creating a unique and immersive sonic experience.

Health are playing the Manning Bar tonight, supported by Brisbane-based trap/metal/industrial/emo artist Zheani and the Melbourne duo of Joshua Wells & Karina Utomo (Tekno Neraka) whose largely improvised and experimental collaboration focuses on live drum machine manipulations paired with extreme vocal dissonance.

The Manning Bar, nestled within the sprawling grounds of the University of Sydney, finds its gothic main building perfectly juxtaposed against the industrial edge of Health’s performance tonight. The crowd is a mosaic of diversity, with some fans wearing goth-inspired clothing peppered throughout. The venue, brimming to capacity, hums with anticipation. As the lights dim, the band emerges in shadow, the air thick with expectancy. Suddenly, strobe lights ignite the stage, and Health’s relentless sound engulfs the audience. Miller on drums is the relentless engine, propelling the music forward with an unyielding pulse. Duzsik delivers vocals with a calculated cool, a calm centre amidst the sonic storm. Famiglietti is a kinetic force, leaping between bass and synths, his long hair whipping wildly as he darts across the stage, embodying the frenetic energy of Health’s sound. The energy is palpable, a symphony of beats and bodies moving in unison, as the pulsating rhythms create an unforgettable night.
