Blossoms hit the stage with a kind of easy confidence that only comes from years of tight-knit chemistry. Their groove-heavy Britpop sound felt effortless live, frontman Tom Ogden carrying it all with a supernatural charm and touch of ’70s flair. Kicking off with ‘What Can I Say After I’m Sorry?’, they slid into a set that was as slick as it was ridiculously fun.

The band were clearly having the time of their lives, even throwing in a variation of the bus stop dance, while the crowd soaked up every moment. ‘Honey Sweet’ and ‘Your Girlfriend’ had the whole room singing, the shimmering melodies pulling people into a sway before everything exploded into chaos for the euphoric ‘Charlemagne’. It was loose, full of joy, and exactly the kind of set that makes you forget everything else.
30 minutes of anticipation ended with the entire Enmore Theatre belting ‘Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again’ (No way!) in full volume. And finally, Kasabian.
It had been nine years since they last played in Australia, and they made damn sure we felt every second of that absence. They ripped straight in with ‘Call’ from their latest album ‘Happenings’, and within seconds, the room went feral. Barely a breath later, ‘Club Foot‘ hit, and that was it— absolute carnage. Fans screaming, reaching for the stage.

Sergio Pizzorno was the ringleader of it all, making up for lost time with an unhinged energy that never wavered. He didn’t stop moving, either midair, in the pit, or sprinting through the crowd like he had a personal mission to make sure no corner of the theatre was left untouched. For ‘You’re in Love with a Psycho’, he pushed it even further, getting people onto each other’s shoulders before launching himself straight into the mosh.
When they returned to the stage for ‘L.S.F’ and ‘Fire’, there was nothing left to give, the crowd had spent it all, and so had the band. It was sweaty, euphoric, and so unapologetically British.
After catching The Courteeners a few weeks ago, I’m starting to see the pattern. Another night of football chants and absolute chaos? I’d do it all again in a heartbeat.
