Måneskin are currently on their debut tour of Australia, tonight’s show at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney is the second date of their visit.
Måneskin skyrocketed to international fame after winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021 with their hit ‘Zitti e buoni.’ Formed in Rome in 2016, the band consists of charismatic vocalist Damiano David, bassist Victoria De Angelis, guitarist Thomas Raggi, and drummer Ethan Torchio.
The crowd is raring to go and so is the band, from the moment they take the stage it’s on – the rawness of punk collides with the allure of glam rock, reminiscent of a bygone era yet fiercely modern at the same time. The Hordern goes from pitch black darkness to blinding white in an instant. David, De Angelis (pom poms on her costume flying,) and Raggi exchange glances and feed off each other’s dynamic energy, prowling the stage with a captivating synergy that electrifies the audience. Not to be outdone, flamboyant Torchio thumps his drums with a theatrical flair, black hair flying wildly.
Damiano David, in particular is a mesmerising force, embodying the spirit of rock icons of the past, he struts and preens, his jewel-encrusted white T shirt glistens vibrantly under the stage lights, adding a dazzling sparkle to every movement he makes.
