Tonight, Jen Cloher takes the stage at Machine Hall, one of Sydney’s freshest live music venues with a storied past as part of the Vivid Festival. Originally built in the 1930s, this former substation once powered the city’s wharves and trams. After shutting down in 1985 and languishing in disrepair, it has been reborn as a vibrant cultural hub.
We’re incredibly fortunate to witness Jen Cloher and their band tonight, as this marks one of their final performances together. Adding to the magic, we are the first audience to experience their latest single, ‘Annabelle,’ live. Cloher seamlessly blends music with insightful, thought-provoking storytelling. Cloher is joined onstage by Ella Haber for a spine tingling rendering of ‘The Wild.’ The show culminates in a rousing rendition of Patti Smith’s ‘Land,’ living up to The Independent’s praise: “A modern-day Patti Smith, whose brutally honest, politically charged lyrics establish her as one of the most compelling and significant artists of her time.”
