The Kinks were a pretty big band back in the day. And The Zombies were pretty awesome too. Agreed?
Thought you would. So you’d probably agree that members of both bands are very qualified to spot a decent tune or two. So if Dave Davies and Rod Argent say The Moons are alright, we would have to agree, and on the evidence of their latest single you can see why.
The glam rock influence of Bowie, Bolan and Mott The Hoople is easily detectable. The opening bars could easily be mistaken for Aladdin Sane’s ‘Cracked Actor’. ‘Heart and Soul’ is an unashamed romper stomper of a tune, it’s roots are back in the 70’s but it’s heart is bang up to date, with a topic that can be all too familiar and painful to some.
Singer/Songwriter, Andy Crofts explains,“Heart and soul is about a girl, a temptress who pulls you in with her looks and spits you out. A girl who reaches into your heart and soul and takes all the good out of you and then moves on to her next victim.”
‘Heart and Soul’ is released 31st March via Schnitzel Records.
The eagerly anticipated new album, ‘Mindwaves’, is released 21st July on Schnitzel Records.
The Moons are: Andy Crofts – Vocals/guitar, Ben Gordelier – Drums, Ben Curtis – Bass and Chris Watson – Guitar.
