After a career in which even their frontman / creative director regarded them more as studio specialists than a live act, Electric Light Orchestra’s Jeff Lynne has finally decided that, following their well received Hyde Park Performance and a recent BBC special, the time is finally right for ELO to be able to do a substantial tour to perform their multitude of hits in a way that he always wanted them to be played.
The UK and Ireland tour dates announced are as follows;
Tue April 05 2016 – Liverpool Echo Arena
Thu April 07 2016 – Capital FM Arena Nottingham
Sat April 09 2016 – Leeds first direct Arena
Sun April 10 2016 – Manchester Arena
Tue April 12 2016 – Glasgow SSE Hydro
Thu April 14 2016 – Newcastle upon Tyne Metro Radio Arena
Sat April 16 2016 – Birmingham Genting Arena
Sun April 17 2016 – Birmingham Genting Arena
Wed April 20 2016 – London O2
Fri April 22 2016 – London O2
Sat April 23 2016 – London O2

With a new ELO album imminent, as well as 2001’s Zoom, Mr. Blue Sky: The Very Best of Electric Light Orchestra (a section of ELO standards re-recorded with today’s technology), 2013’s Electric Light Orchestra Live and Lynne’s early 90s solo debut all being given the deluxe vinyl reissue treatment, it seems that Jeff Lynne’s ELO is in for a fantastic 2016.
