I knew before going to Beyond the Pale that it was going to be something special due to its location and special it was, set on the beautiful Glendalough Estate in the Wicklow mountains and surrounder by many ancient Oak trees.
This festival is only in its second year, but all ready is set to be one of the best festivals on the Irish festival calendar in my humble opinion.
When you get there you cant help but feel the vibe not only from the site but the people and organisers also, it had the most friendliest crowds I have every! came across at a festival.
With a main stage called the Main Stage and two smaller ones called Selective Memory Tent and The Big Romance and then a number of little pocket stages dotted about the site it had a line up the would satisfy anyone and what is also great is its not to large a site or crowd, I think just over 10000 were expected.
Between the 3 main stages on the Friday bill were the likes of Dope Lemon / Melts / Joy Orbison / WhoMadeWho / For Those I Love / Soichi Terada / Jon Hopkins / Baynk / to name but a few and with such a great line-up the few showers of rain on the Friday didn’t bother anyone and even when the rain got a little heavier nearing the end of night, most just kept on dancing.
