Celebrating a decade of music-making, Mercury-nominated jazz super-group Dinosaur (helmed by trumpeter Laura Jurd) have announced the release of their highly anticipated third album, alongside a cluster of live dates across Europe.
To The Earth marks the quartet’s return after the success of Wonder Trail, but strips away the electric aspect of the sophomore release for a more acoustic endeavour, out May 15th through Edition Records.
“My discography to date, as Dinosaur and albums under my name, is the result of an unavoidable necessity to express and share a wealth of musical interests – from folk-influenced counterpoint, to song-writing, Stravinsky-inspired harmony to the use of analogue synthesis and looped grooves” Jurd comments.
“To The Earth’ is simply a collection of joyfully crafted melodies, which we can dive into and explore as improvisers. It makes so much sense that this is the music to surface after a decade of playing together.“
The group will be touring Europe (as of this time of writing) from April in support of the album, going through France, Germany, the Netherlands and their most ambitious show to date – the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London.
