According their Bandcamp page, Cherym (pronounced “Chair-um”), are “three basic bitches from Derry”.
Guitarist and vocalist Hannah Richardson, bassist Nyree Porter and drummer Alannagh Doherty, produce killer pop-punk tunes in the vein of Bikini Kill meets Yuck. They have very different musical tastes away from the band though, ranging from Pixies (Hannah), through to heavier stuff like Slipknot (Alannagh), whilst Nyree likes a bit of country and proclaims that Shania Twain is the best artist she’s seen live!
It’s this diaspora of influences that makes Cherym, because they don’t sound like any of those, but elementally they do. Making lots of new friends with every show and recently been featured heavily on both BBC national radio and outlets like Kerrang, their latest single “Taking Up Sports” has even been featured on both Liverpool FC’s and the Official Wimbledon Spotify Playlists.
