Rebellion is getting ever closer and today it’s the turn of French Canadian girl punks Bad Skin, to be put in the Backseat Mafia spotlight as we countdown to Aug 3rd in Blackpool.
Formed in 2016 by lead singer/guitarist Dope, when she met Caro (lead guitar). Next up, recruited through Facebook was bassist Aurely, before they discovered the beast of a drummer that is Christine. Signed to the eclectic Montreal based Dance Plant Record label, the home of artists as diverse as Hip Hop artist MC Wild and Elvis Baggio, but not to be confused with late 2000s Toronto Hardcore band also called Bad Skin.
Their power grunge/riot grrrl punk is part L7 in the same vein as the UK’s own Witch Fever, hi energy coupled with incredible live performances. They mix the rawness with some sweet pop sensibilities too as highlighted on the track Completely Insane.
Bad Skin will be appearing on Sat 5th Aug 20:00-20:30 on the Rebellion Introducing Stage (RIS) in the Arena. However, if you’re in Yorkshire and can’t wait until then, the band are playing The Hive in Rotherham this Saturday 23rd July, with Vick Upsticks and Eryx London, and the best part is that its a free show!!
