Blanck Mass is no stranger to loud, experimental electronic music. His music antagonizes the listener like a cross between Throbbing Gristle, Skinny Puppy, and Pauline Oliveros, all the while still coming across like high art. Blanck Mass, aka Benjamin John Power, has taken electronic music to a whole other level, both on his own and with his other musical project Fuck Buttons. It’s no surprise then that Adult Swim tapped him to contribute to their single series. That contribution is the heavy techno/noise track “D7-D5”. Here’s what Blanck Mass had to say about the track:
“The track D7-D5 is intended as the second move in a game of chess initially instigated by Manuel Gottsching when he released (and named said release) E2-E4, the recording which many believe pioneered techno.” – Blanck Mass
“D7-D5” is a hell of a track with driving synths, propulsive beat, and a darkly-lit club vibe. Check out the track below, and check out Blanck Mass’ tour dates as well.
