News: 10 Years Of Live At Leeds & 10 Years Of Slow Club!

It is now just a little over a week until Live At Leeds, which incidentally is celebrating its 10th year as a festival this year! The first event in 2007 was held to celebrate Leeds’ 800th birthday, and has now grown into an integral part of the festival season, which attracts over 10,000 people each year.

Playing at this year’s festival- which takes place on the bank holiday weekend (April 30th to be exact!) are acts such as Circa Waves, Blood Red Shoes, Ghostpoet, Los Campesinos! and none other than Slow Club! You can follow this link to the Live At Leeds website to see the full list of artists taking part in the festival. You can also click here to find out the schedule for the festival, including the venues throughout Leeds that will be used! These include the Key Club, O2 Academy, Brudenell Social Club and The Belgrave Music Hall- just to give you an idea of the scale of the event.

But what’s so special about Slow Club’s appearance I hear you ask?! Well, the band are also celebrating their 10th anniversary this year (so it’s a joint birthday!) and they played at the very first Live At Leeds festival, all the way back in 2007! Slow Club also played at the festival back in 2011 and 2009- the latter saw them play in the cockpit, a beloved Leeds venue that has now sadly met its demise. This year they will play at the Holy Trinity Church, headlining the Clash Stage- their set begins at 10pm!

So two birthdays in one day, and a weekend full of a variety of music; this year’s Live At Leeds promises to be a good one- perhaps even the best yet! You can still get tickets right here, as well as listen to a podcast by Katherine Hartley, Rosie Lyness and Hannah Johnson about 10 years of Live At Leeds!
