There was barely a more welcome return this year than that of Au Revoir Simone. The Brooklyn trio, Heather D’Angelo, Erika Forster and Annie Hart, had been away for some years since they’d launched their charming electronica enthused indie pop on the world, in the shape of Still Night, Still Light.
It was beginning to look less than optimistic, with their break starting to look like one of those indefinite haitus’, that often see the end of bands. However, what was actually happening was that the three girls were all individually writing songs, and eventually these saw the light of day – first to eachother, and then to the rest of us, in the shape of their album ‘Move in Spectrums, which came out via the Moshi Moshi label in September.
Move in Spectrums melted the hearts of fans and critics alike and gave the world some of the girls most accomplished and best songs of their career. They played a memorable show at XOYO around the time of the release, and they’re now returning to these shores to play the NME award show in London, before embarking on a European tour, and then heading home to tour the US supporting Broken Bells
Welcome back, Au Revoir Simone.
