It hardly seems any time at all since I was wigging out to some of the world’s most amazing psychedelic bands, but less than three months after last year’s even the first band announcements have been made for next years event.
First here’s a reminder of what this year’s event was like:
The PsychFest will be in its third year next year, and if my Twitter feed is anything to go by a number of bands are hoping to make it a hat-trick. First up, though, are a list of bands most of whom were not on this year’s bill but who are worthy of the entrance fee by themselves.
Principal amongst these are Goat, the amazing band who delivered one of the most outstanding records of 2012; and who will headline a dedicated ‘Rocket Records’ stage, entitled Transmissions from the Outer Realms, along with stable mates Hills, Lay Llamas, Teeth of the Sea, Anthroprophh and Gnod. This concept worked very well this year with Trouble in Mind Records, and I’m hopeful that Rocket will be similarly producing an album of exclusive tracks especially for the Festival.
Other bands announced this week include The Janitors, Zombie Zombie, Les Big Bird, Vaadat Charigim, Dark Bells and Sudden Death of Stars; most of whom I’m looking forward to getting to know over the coming months (initial listens are promising).
Expect many more announcements between now and next summer as bands, art installations, DJs and seminars are added; but if your appetite is already whetted then early bird tickets are available at £40 each from here.
